How to Stay on Trend in 2021 & Beyond

With us all spending far more time inside our own four walls in the past twelve months, lots of us are making updates to our homes. But when it comes to flooring choices we often hesitate, because we are concerned that our flooring needs to have longevity as well as a contemporary edge. We don’t want to be changing our flooring every time we want to refresh our décor, a lick of paint is one thing, but a new floor needs to last beyond your current colour scheme.

So, what are the trends that you can get on board with but that won’t look dated in 2022?

1. Wood-look flooring.

Ok, so this first one isn't a new trend, but is definitely one that is here to stay. Wood-look flooring LVTs (Luxury Vinyl Tiles) are likely to be the top trend for 2021, making it 4 years in a row. We like a trend that sticks around.

2. Textured flooring.

Whether it is simulating stone floors, ceramics or woods, the textures available in hard floors will make a strong contribution to the designs of 2021 and beyond.

3. Durable flooring.

So many of the options that we offer now are strong, durable and waterproof. They have exceptional guarantees, and the majority of our carpets are now bleach cleanable. Great for busy people, families and homes with pets! It’s important for flooring to last in terms of quality as well as style.

4. Blonde flooring.

If we had to commit to a colour that is going to make the biggest impact in 2021 it would be blonde oak. Light, bright and fresh blonde flooring is super flexible when it comes to decor choices, traditional or contemporary. BTW, don’t panic - grey is will still be a top favourite too!

5. Flooring designs.

We predict that we will continue to see a rise in intricate flooring designs in 2021, whether that be Victorian tile effect hallways or parquet dining rooms. Less straight lays, that's for sure.

If you are someone who likes to tick all the trend boxes, then Karndean’s French Oak planks laid in a herringbone pattern, as shown here, are the choice for you. Conveniently it is a great choice for anything from a traditionally styled home, to the most modern of styles.
