Last year we made some predictions as to what we would see as flooring trends in 2021. Our predictions were:
- Wood-look flooring
- Textured finishes
- Durability
- Blonde tones
- Intricate flooring patterns
Click here to read more about our predictions from last year. If we do say so ourselves, we were pretty spot-on. So, what does the future of the world of flooring hold?
Well, a lot of these trends will continue. Floors should last much longer than a seasonal fad and so many flooring trends are, by design, here to stay for quite some time. All our predictions for 2021 are likely to go forward into 2022 and beyond to a greater or lesser degree. But which ones will be the key highlights, and can we expect any new kids on the block?
- Parquet flooring
We very much expect intricate flooring designs to continue to make a big impact in 2022, especially herringbone and chevron parquet designs.
- Sustainable wood flooring
Wooden flooring is very much here to stay. Whatever the size or colour of plank you choose, one thing that is becoming increasingly important to homeowners is the sustainability of the choices they make for their home décor. This may mean ensuring the new wood floor that is chosen is responsibly sourced with FSC certification. Or it may mean breathing new life into existing wooden floors in a home. 3. Colour
Whilst grey flooring is still a firm favourite, we expect to continue to see flooring colours moving towards natural wood tone, with bleached wood being one of the likely new chosen colourways for rustic planks, alongside more refined traditional French oak planks.
